The focus of this room is of course the hearth. JDF Construction, Inc. replaced the previous fireplace with a new, very dramatic centerpiece. The firebox was replaced with a gas-log hearth and a new fireplace surround that was constructed of fossilized sea-shells. Above the fireplace, we inset a plasma-screen television into the mantel, with a radio frequency remote control installed to operate both the television and the fireplace!
